Anyone who is certified by Huawei must regularly undergo a recertification to ensure that it remains valid. This article describes how long the certifications are valid for and how the validity can be checked.
As with other manufacturers, Huawei has many different levels of certification. Huawei distinguishes between Career and Specialist certifications, which have different levels of validity. If no recertification is done within this validity period, the certification is lost. The following table provides an overview of the various certifications and their validity.
In order to retain the certification, a recertification must be done before the expiry date. This can usually be done by passing the written exam again. If there are active certifications of several levels (e.g. HCIP and HCIA), then passing the written exam of the highest level (in this example HCIP) is sufficient to extend all certifications. This has the advantage that recertification is only necessary every three years for Career certifications. All certifications are extended by the respective duration on the day of successful recertification (e.g. 3 years for Career certifications). This means that all certifications have the same expiration date.
Although only one recertification is required for all certifications, it is important to start preparations early. It can always happen that a written exam is not passed and if the expiration date is reached, all certifications are lost. It can therefore be advantageous to plan enough time for 2-3 attempts, so that the pressure and risk is not too great. There is also no advantage in recertifying too early, as the duration is extended on the day of successful recertification.
Check Huawei certification
You can check the validity of your certification using the certification number printed on your certificate (number with 24 digits). This number can be entered on the Huawei website and indicates whether the certificate is still valid and when it expires.
